Home in Cala Santanyi
Location: Cala Santanyí, Mallorca
Area: 450 m2
Execution: 2021
Gardener: Luís Herranz, jardinería
The result of this garden is a successful blend of the wishes of the client, a Frenchman in love with bees and flowers, and the landscape designer’s experience and fascination with naturalistic-looking Mediterranean gardens. The modern, minimalist architecture, with little variety of materials and colours, blends perfectly with the muted green, yellowish and grey tones of the garden. The balance in the colours and textures of the combination of plants, together with the layer of gravel typical of the area, makes this garden convey a sense of calm and peace similar to the Zen garden.
The garden could be divided in two parts perfectly integrated: a first rectangle in front of the main façade of the house and next to the swimming pool, which is composed of masses of herbaceous plants and grasses, some with quite striking flowering, to quickly capture the visitor’s attention when arriving at the plot. The second section around the house recreates a Mediterranean path managed by sandstone tiles. Here, cypresses and olive trees are the protagonists of a plantation that blends into the garrigue around the house.
