Playa de Palma Rooftop garden

Project located in the Gran Playa de Palma Hotel in Mallorca, designed as a technical solution to integrate green areas into the building. A space of more than 1000 m 2 on a kitchen rooftop was converted into a garden to be enjoyed by guests from their rooms.
A 20-cm layer of soil, limited access for maintenance and the saline wind in the area were the main factors taken into consideration for the choice of plants.
The design is characterized by colour contrasts between groupings of different plant species, some selected for their blossoms or their texture and others for their leaf colour, generating different combinations that can be viewed from the top floor of the hotel. The garden goes through a sequence of colour changes from the beginning of spring to the end of autumn. Even in winter, when the plants dry out, many of them are still attractive.
