GABRIEL LLABRÉS
Young Majorcan who studied agricultural technical engineering (specialized in horticulture and gardening) at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB).
He continued his studies by completing the Master’s Degree in Landscaping at the Barcelona Higher Technical School of Architecture (UPC).
Today, he is the collaborating landscaper at the Llabrés Garden Center.
My vocation for plants comes from my family – plants have now been central in the lives of four generations with the surname Llabrés. I have always felt comfortable doing graphic design using new technologies, which is likely why I turned to gardening as a creative medium.
INSPIRATION -STYLE
Our source of inspiration when planning a garden comes from the natural surroundings of the island of Mallorca, the wild vegetation along the paths when we go on an excursion to the Sierra de Tramuntana, the shrubs pruned by the abrasive coastal winds, the garrigue of wild olive trees, Ampelodesmus mauritanicus, Chamareops humilis, the fields of olive, carob and fig trees, etc.
Not to copy them, but to collect those elements that transmit spontaneity, elegance and a snse of freedom, awakening in us the feeling of being in nature and thus integrating the architecture into the landscape. The purpouse is to encorage the owners of our desings to enjoy and appreciate the place where they live, creating a stronger connection between them and the landscape.
Balance, unity and simplicity are the basis of the composition of a design without eccentricities, where space management, natural materials and above all, vegetation are our tools. By combining nature, culture, architecture and people, we achieve a unique and differentiated garden for each project.
Unique
The studio is committed to the use of native plants, which provide us with greater sustainability and are able to connect the garden to our landscape and our culture. However, we do not renounce the use of exotic species if they have an added value to offer.
